Cloud Viability Assessment (CVA)
A structured consulting engagement designed to evaluate whether migrating, modernizing, or optimizing workloads on AWS aligns with your technical, operational, and business objectives.
Overview
Syed Solutions' Cloud Viability Assessment (CVA) is a structured consulting engagement designed to evaluate whether AWS is the right platform for your workloads. We review your existing infrastructure, applications, licensing, usage patterns, security requirements, and business goals to identify the best path forward.
The assessment includes infrastructure discovery, workload analysis, cost modeling, rightsizing recommendations, and a Total Cost of Ownership comparison between your current environment and AWS — including compute, storage, licensing, operations, support, backup, disaster recovery, and networking costs.
At the end of the engagement, you receive a clear report that enables stakeholders to make informed cloud adoption decisions based on technical, operational, and financial data — without committing to a migration project.
What You Will Receive
Assessment Scope
- Infrastructure discovery and workload inventory — a documented inventory of in-scope servers, applications, workloads, and identified dependencies based on the information and data made available during the assessment
- Total Cost of Ownership comparison — on-premises vs. AWS, including compute, storage, licensing, support, backup, disaster recovery, and networking
- Rightsizing recommendations and cost modeling — matching AWS instance types and services to your actual workload requirements
- Licensing optimization analysis — identifying opportunities through License Included, Bring Your Own License (BYOL), and other licensing options supported on AWS
- AWS funding program eligibility review — identifying opportunities where your migration may qualify for available AWS funding programs, promotional credits, or partner-led migration incentives, subject to AWS approval
- Migration risk assessment and workload prioritization — categorizing workloads by complexity, risk, and migration readiness
- Cloud security and compliance readiness evaluation — reviewing your current security posture against AWS best practices
- AWS architecture recommendations — a clear map of which AWS services best fit your environment
- Executive migration roadmap with phased implementation plan — a prioritized, actionable plan for your cloud journey
- Risk register and mitigation strategies — documenting known risks and recommended approaches to address them
How It Works
We collect information about your current infrastructure, applications, usage patterns, and business requirements through interviews, questionnaires, and available data exports.
We analyze your workloads against AWS services, model costs using AWS pricing tools, evaluate licensing options, and identify optimization and modernization opportunities.
We deliver a written assessment report with findings, recommendations, estimated AWS costs, deliverables, and a phased migration roadmap tailored to your organization.
We walk through the report with your team, answer questions, and help you decide on the right next steps — with no obligation to proceed with a migration project.
Important Information
AWS cost estimates are directional and are based on the workload information, assumptions, AWS Region, architecture, licensing model, usage profile, and pricing available at the time of the assessment. Actual charges and realized savings may vary.
AWS and partner incentives are not guaranteed. Availability, eligibility, scope, and approval are determined under the applicable program rules at the time of the engagement.
AWS services, third-party licenses, data transfer, storage, support plans, monitoring, backup, security tools, and other enabled resources may generate additional charges. Final architecture, service availability, features, and pricing depend on the selected AWS Region, configuration, software version, licensing terms, and customer requirements.
